See More Chicago Boutiques ... For the Latest Must-Have Trends for Spring (April 07)

See More Spring Fashion

It’s that time of year again – time to update your wardrobe with the newest styles for spring and summer.

Fortunately, SeeMore Shopping has made shopping a breeze by rounding up the hottest trends and scoping out some of the best locally-owned boutiques that flaunt them in Chicago.

See more of our favorite styles below from Clever Alice in River North, Hubba Hubba in Lakeview, Kaveri in Lincoln Park, Jade, Language, Pump Shoes & Accessories and Roslyn in Bucktown/Wicker Park, and ps:accessories in the Gold Coast.

See More Daytime Dresses

Nothing’s easier than throwing on a simple little dress – you can just accessorize and go. Whatever your personal style, this spring you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to cute and casual frocks.

Simple dresses done in city-chic shades of gray and navy or vivid jewel tones have been spotted all over Chicago’s chic-est boutiques.

Head to Roslyn in Bucktown to eye their excellent selections of spring dresses, including graceful empire-waist silk dresses by Liz MacLean ($598) in vibrant jewel-box hues, including burnished gold and ruby red.

At Kaveri, pick up a pleated gray sheath by Adam Plus Eve ($325) (this is a great day-to-evening piece) or Tory Burch’s navy cotton shift ($295).

Language is another fantastic source for stylish little dresses, including the black silk “Spencer” dress by Fluet ($305).

See More Nautical Inspiration

Crisp navy and white pieces trimmed with oversize buttons have sailed into stores already.

Try a crocheted navy tunic top paired with white Bermuda shorts, both by Tory Burch and available at Kaveri ($295 and $175, respectively).

However, the coolest way to see the sea is in a sundress, and this crisp cotton number by Voom at Hubba Hubba ($243) fits the bill.

If you don’t want to go head-to-toe nautical, try a pair of shoes like these polka-dot espadrilles from Seychelles ($79), canvas t-straps by Miss Sixty ($160) or striped wedges ($125) from Michael Kors, all from Pump Shoes & Accessories.

See More Ocean Hues

From the deepest marine blue to the palest sea green, this is the season to channel your inner mermaid in a variety of aquatic shades. An added bonus: these colors, particularly turquoise and cobalt blue, tend to flatter almost any skin tone.

These kimono-inspired dresses in sapphire blue, Tufi Duek at Jade ($372) and Geren Ford at Language ($255), would both be excellent choices.

For accessories, these embroidered Betsey Johnson peep-toe pumps from Pump Shoes & Accessories ($189) are the perfect complement to any basic ensemble.

See More Colorful Prints

Lighten up after the long, gray winter with candy-colored dresses and tops.

If green is your color and mod is your thing, try this geometric print shift dress by Future Paradise at Kaveri ($253).

Fuschia and violet are two more brilliant options, as evidenced by this strappy Chulo Pony dress at Clever Alice ($260).

You could also do a softer floral look with this delicate Inga Melero satin top from Language ($285).

See More Layers Upon Layers

All the lightweight knits, leggings, and perfectly cut T-shirts out there right now make this an easy trend to buy into, and ultra-soft cotton blends are cozier than your pajamas.

Pick up a few casual tanks and tops from Jade (the soft sage green hue of this T-bags tank ($145) is a very flattering shade), and mix in some tunics and definitely a mini dress or two.

Kara Janx makes some gorgeous pieces, and this gray and turquoise top is no exception ($192, also at Jade).

Dresses like this Cindy Lee navy babydoll at Kaveri ($341) would also be a good option to throw into the layering mix.

See More Pockets

Pockets are popping up on dresses and tops like never before, even on dressier pieces such as this Tufi Duek white satin sundress at Jade ($511).

You can also pick up this trend at Hubba Hubba, where many of the stylish cocktail numbers are equipped with pockets, including this persimmon red sheath by Weston Wear ($123).

Another option is this mod geometric print tunic by Casting at Clever Alice ($158)  – worn on it’s own or over skinny pants.

See More Denim

Leave the skinny jeans on the shelf and try on a pair of wide-legs.

Hubba Hubba stocks several different styles of Level 99 jeans (priced from $100-150) that feature a low-rise wide waistband and a dark wash with slouchy menswear feel.

The same boutique also stocks Red Engine jeans in several different shapes, but the classic five-pocket straight leg in dove gray will undoubtedly jump off the racks ($145).

See More Adorable Jackets

Spring may have sprung, but when jackets are this appealing, you'll want to take cover.

Girly-girls can pick up this sweet little eyelet jacket also by Smythe at Language – the blackbuttons add just the right edge ($495).

If you happen to be more of a contemporary girl, this three button Generra jacket ($325) from Kaveri has an a-line silhouette and slight sheen that are ultra-modern.

Or try a Tiffany blue cropped peacoat by Smythe at Language ($545) - Jackie O. would have loved this one.

See More Trenchcoats

Trenches are perennial favorites, and there are more fabulous versions than ever this spring. This high-collared, ruffled knockout by Nicolas K. Benoit ($395) is another one of Roslyn’s carefully chosen pieces, and it’s bound to become an instant classic.

See More Platforms

The fashion industry’s never-ending love affair with high heels continues this season, offering sole-mates in cork, leather, or wooden platforms.

Take a walk on the wild side with these Oh Deer zebra peep-toes and leopard sandals at ps:accessories ($112 and $116, respectively).

If wedges are more your thing, you'll find a variety of fashionable options including these patent and cork sandals, also by Oh Deer ($98).

See More Patent Leather

You’ll be highly reflective this spring with patent accessories like this quilted, zippered black bag by CanDance at Hubba Hubba ($45) - it’s a steal.

Patent done in white is also a surefire hit – this Goldenbleu bag from Roslyn ($320) combines a few key trends: woven leather, shine, and it’s a clutch.

Get your feet in on the fun with white patent cork wedges by Sam Edelman at ps:accessories ($89).

See More Heavy Metals

Metallic touches are definitely here to stay this season, so go for the gold, silver, or bronze. This season’s bling is a little more subtle than in previous years – think burnished metal rather than high-shine glitz.

Accessories like this silver textured clutch by M. Flynn Accessories ($221) or these bronze flats by Elle ($100) are the easiest way to rock this trend.  An Elyse Bec delicate silk wrap shot though with metallic threads is another great selection ($106).  These accessories available at ps:accessories.

Pump Shoes & Accessories carries more footwear options, including these ultra-glam Vince Camuto wedges ($145) or pewter t-strap sandals by JC ($79).

See More Lucite Jewelry

This lightweight material makes even the chunkiest shapes easy to wear, and its translucence lends a delicate feeling to baubles.

Add a few bangles, or maybe a big cocktail ring to your jewelry wardrobe, or go for broke with a bold necklace like this one by Plume NY at Roslyn ($198) or a few Erica Pena pieces from Language (earrings $50 and necklaces $50-$55).

See More Headbands

A band or a thin scarf is the hottest hair accessory this spring.

Buy these satin numbers in bulk at Hubba Hubba – for only $11 apiece, you can pick up one to match every outfit.

As the weather finally warms up, bypass Michigan Avenue for a stroll around Chicago's neighborhoods, and check out the unique designs available in local boutiques.

Besides the definite style advantage of not seeing your new outfit coming and going, you’ll be right on trend this spring.
